WHAT IS GRIM?
Taking place on planet P44-X, Grim is an online shooter that lets you experience the battle between the Persuasive Forces and the Insurgents.
Made by six students, this game strives to set an example of what small teams can offer the game industry on a AAA-quality level. Including our three game-modes Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Breach, the game offers a fun and exciting experience for everyone who loves playing shooters and has a soft spot for high quality game art.
GAME DESIGN
Date: 24-03-2012
The game will include 3 game-types: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Breach (our own unique game-type). Most of the game design is shared among these game-types. We all know how Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch work: find and kill enemies. But let's go into detail about our game-type Breach.
Breach
Breach uses the same systems as regular gametypes (deathmatch and team deathmatch).
However: Breach has a twist.
Attackers (Persuasive Forces): move to objective before time runs out. At least one must survive (no respawn until next round, unless lives value is increased)
Defenders (Insurgents): prevent attackers from reaching objective (infinite respawn).
1 match consists of 7 rounds. Each round has a time limit (3 minutes).
More credits are awarded to the winning team. Defenders can also buy level upgrades.
Abilities, passive upgrades and items are effective through an entire match. This resets when a new match starts. They are lost when the player carrying them dies.
Level is divided in 3 areas: begin, mid, end.
Level upgrades are team based (defender only). Level upgrades are Heated Areas, Dynamic Blockades and Alternate Paths. An area can only hold 1 upgrade, no stacking.
